Omran is 10 years old, living at the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan, where he is one of almost 80,000 Syrian refugees residing in the camp. He and his family were forced to flee their home in Syria due to dangers of and violence resulting from the ongoing conflicts in Syria. Omran says he wishes he could return to Syria: “I miss Syria and my home. I miss school and playing with my friends,” he says. “I miss swimming. I played soccer with my cousins and friends in the field behind our house. I miss my house and the graves of my two brothers the most.” He plays soccer at the camp a little bit and he says it is the only thing that relieves his stress and anger, emotions a ten year old should not have to deal with but that Omran is faced with due to being uprooted and witnessing violence and intense conflict at such a young age.
